No other dance form involves the pelvic floor muscles like this dance. It was named by the western gaze as belly dance, but very inaccurately, as what dances are the walls of your yoni.
This dance form is the most supportive dance form for womben, by far. It supports you in all of your stages of life, from exploring your body and becoming the expert on how to move it, to exploring sensation and sensuality, to assisting you in a healthy pregnancy, to postnatal aftercare, and finally to a vibrant energy body and womb health way into your crone years.
Like all dance forms, it started as ritual, as a way to access dimensions within the self. I am positive that there were spiritual aspects to this dance when it was first formed from a womben’s body, danced in early Mesopotamia. What I strive for is to access that energetic support as well when we dance, to let it be an inner experience first and foremost.
