Intro Level Arabic Dance Class
This dance form is so dear to me, and has supported me in all the different stages of my life. No name really describes it for me, more than when I heard it being referenced as raq’s el-ilahaat,” which translates to the dance of Goddesses.
Admittedly, I have been influenced by different cultures, music, and dance styles; but I love the classical version the most having been raised in a Lebanese home.
My style could be described as a fusion blend as I am also influenced by my western upbringing, very often practicing to world music, hip-hop infused Arabic songs and any other music that speaks to me.
In my class, we will go over the mechanics of the body and how the movements are actually created. Then we will take our time to practice them so they become engrained in us. At last, we will put them together in a meaningful way to the music.
This class can be very supportive to new mothers who would like to lovingly nurture their bodies back to balance, for beginners who want to connect to their bodies in a powerful way, and more experienced dancers who would like to brush up on their technique and deepen their practice.
