The Goddess Could Have Been Anyone, And She Decided To Be You

Arabic DANCE Course

for total beginners or those who want to refresh the basics and practice together

Dear Sacred Womban,

Thank you for being here, for investing in yourself, for doing the healing and coming home to your body. Sacred Womban practices are a combination of practices that I have discovered on my own journey towards healing and practices from my own lineage that have supported me in every stage of my life, from the sweet maiden years of discovery, to a truth seeker, a mother, a lover, and an advocate of the feminine.

I offer a variety of somatic-based practices that are a combination of my life’s work and personal healing journey of over 20 years. With the unique experience of being a Lebanese singer and dancer, raised in the U.S., who then became a world traveler, spending 2 years in an ashram devoted to yoga, a mother and finally a guide to other women; I offer Sacred Womban practices that are a combination of Arabic dance, voice, ancient womb practices, emotional release, tapping and yoga.

Work 1:1 With Me

I knew I wanted to support women from an early age, that by supporting women, I would be helping the whole world, as women birth the world. Women are the foundation of life.

I always tell myself, “If I healed, so can others.” I’ve seen women transform right before my eyes. Sacred Womban practices are so powerful because they direct you to where you need to be— back to your home, your body.

Grounded in your own beingness, softened by your heart, held in the womb; you walk through life with a different presence. Obstacles will always arise, but you don’t have to face them with dis-ease, with an activated nervous system, and with your traumas overcasting your every experience.

In this 5 week course, I will explain how to create isolations in the body from the very basics. Then we will practice them together, and layer movements in a meaningful way.

Dance originated as ritual

This dance form was once danced in nature over the fields because it was believed that the womb ensured the vitality and fertility of the crops.

Motherhood

One of the greatest initiations into love.

I cannot say that my story is complete without mentioning my daughter and the powerful initiation into womanhood and Arabic dance that she gifted me by birthing her into existence. I have always felt that men have created ceremonies of initiation for themselves, but life has already created that for us naturally with the clear transitions of menstruation, motherhood (if we so choose it), and menopause.

I was such a yogini before that, dedicating myself to an average of five hours of meditation and yoga a day. I found myself lost in the esoteric spaces that my breath led me to. But soon after giving birth, Arabic dance came over me like a fever. I would roll out of bed, flip on some music and sweat! I soon found a teacher, and made a journey of being a passionate dancer, to a trained dancer, to a passionately trained dancer who reconnected to her ancestors through movement- through the many generations of bodies that have kept this knowledge alive. When I dance, I am connected to all the bodies before me that have danced this form through the intelligence of the body and the interconnectedness of this spirit.
